FAIRBORN, Ohio – Wright State needed two runs in the bottom of the ninth to defeat Dayton, 7-6, on Tuesday night at Nischwitz Stadium.

In the last three innings, the Flyers (19-23) scored four unanswered runs capped off by an RBI sacrifice fly from the bat of senior C.J. Gillman, which gave Dayton at 6-5 lead in the top of the ninth inning.

But Wright State (27-13) rallied in the bottom of the ninth to set up a game-winning, two-RBI single from Tristan Moore. Robby Sunderman (0-1) shifted from third base to pitch the bottom of the ninth in a save situation, but allowed WSU’s two runs for his first loss of the season.

Moore finished 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run scored to lead the Raiders.

Dayton’s three-run comeback to take a 6-5 lead was started by Sunderman, who led off the seventh inning with his second homerun of the season. Gillman increased his conference-leading RBI total to 48 after going 1-for-4 with two RBI on Tuesday.

Senior Zach Stewart registered his second three-hit performance of the season, going 3-for-4, as the Flyers out-hit WSU 12-10. Dayton has recorded 10 or more hits in seven of the last eight games.

Senior right-handed pitcher Mike Hauschild came out of the bullpen to retire three straight batters in the bottom of the eighth despite inheriting a leadoff double. Sophomore lefty Tommy Konrad started for UD, lasting four innings with a strikeout and three runs allowed.

The Flyers resume conference play this weekend at Richmond. The three-game series between the top two offenses in the A-10 begins on Friday at 3 p.m. ET.
