FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Dayton scored eight runs in the first two innings to jump-start a 15-2 win over IPFW on Tuesday afternoon at Mastodon Field in seven innings.

Junior right-handed pitcher Parker Schrage (1-6) earned his first win as a Flyer after tossing six innings with four strikeouts and no earned runs allowed. Redshirt freshman Jim Hurt made his first career appearance on the mound to pitch the last inning for UD, striking out two.

Offensively, the Flyers posted a season-high 15 runs on 14 hits. The last time Dayton scored 15 or more runs was on April 17, 2011 in a 15-5 win against Richmond at home. Nine different Flyers scored on Tuesday, led by a career-high four runs scored from senior Bobby Glover.

In his hometown of Fort Wayne, Ind., Glover was the first to hit and score a run for the Flyers. He singled in the first inning and was later driven in by a double from senior Brian Blasik. Dayton batted through the order in the first, scoring five runs on four hits, including a two-run single from junior Jared Broughton.

Dayton posted five more runs – three in the third and two in the fifth – before IPFW scored a run. Danny Tursell (0-4) received the loss on the mound for the Mastodons after giving up eight runs in two innings.

Senior C.J. Gillman hit a grand slam homerun in the seventh inning which boosted the Flyers’ advantage to 15-1. The four-run homerun gave Gillman a career-high five RBI on the day.

Freshman A.J. Ryan also hit a multi-run homerun for the Flyers, blasting a 1-0 count past the right field wall in the second inning. Ryan’s third homer of the season put UD up 8-0 after two innings.

Dayton will face top-ranked Kentucky on Wednesday night in Lexington, Ky. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET. The Wildcats given the program’s first No. 1 ranking on Monday by Collegiate Baseball.
