SPARTANBURG, S.C. – University of Dayton baseball lost to Wofford in 11 innings on Saturday afternoon at King Field, 6-5.

It is the first loss against Wofford in four games, spanning three seasons. Dayton (0-2) was led by senior C.J. Gillman who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. After just two games Gillman has five RBI.

Wofford (1-1) scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th on a bases-loaded single from Eric Brenk which scored James Foster from third. Senior Tim Bury (0-1) pitched the last 2 2/3 innings to receive the loss – the run in the 11th is the only run Bury allowed through 13 batters faced.

Senior Mike Hauschild started on the mound for the Flyers and lasted six innings with five strikeouts.

The Flyers committed four errors as two of Wofford’s six runs were unearned.

Dayton concludes its opening weekend in Spartanburg with an 11 a.m. ET start against Eastern Michigan at Harley Park on the campus of USC Upstate.
