BASEBALL BEGINS A-10 SCHEDULE WITH DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

March 25, 2005

After six consecutive weekends on the road, Dayton will open its A-10 conference schedule at home against defending champion St. Bonaventure at Time Warner Cable Stadium. The Flyers and Bonnies will play a doubleheader Saturday at noon and a single game on Easter Sunday also at noon.

The series was orginally scheduled for Upstate New York, but poor field conditions and weather forcasts prompted the change in venue. The duo of William Benoit and Michael Massa each carry six game hitting streaks into the conference opener this weekend.

Benoit is second on the team with a .371 average and has hit safely in 16 of 18 games this season while Massa leads UD with 18 runs scored.

The trio of Craig Stammen, Luke Trubee and Kaleb Thompson will try to shut down a Bona lineup that is hitting .340 as a team.

Stammen will start the series opener on Saturday followed by Trubee. Stammen has a 3-2 record with a 3.44 ERA while Trubee is 4-1 and holds a 2.63 ERA.

Thompson will start Sunday's finale and carries a 2-2 record with a 3.86 ERA.

Admission to all three games are free to the public due to the Easter holiday weekend. Also all three games can be followed live on Gametracker at www.DaytonFlyers.com
