DAYTON ROUTS DUQUESNE 22-12 TO CLINCH SPOT IN ATLANTIC 10 TOURNAMENT

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The University of Dayton Flyers pounced on the Duquesne Dukes 22-12 on Monday to secure their first berth in the Atlantic 10 tournament since 2006. Dayton is now 32-14 and is on a 12 game winning streak.

UD had little trouble manufacturing runs in a game that was capped by five home runs from four different Flyers. Max Navalinski homered twice, while Cole Tyrell, Zach Jacob and Aaron Dunsmore all went yard once. The Flyers have hit 67 home runs this season, just four shy of tying the all-time single-season school record of 71.

Jacob and Navalinski both had identical stat lines going 4-for-6 with 5 RBI and four runs score apiece. Catcher Scott Dunwoody was 4-for-6 with three runs scored and one RBI. Tyrell had three RBI and Dunsmore had two RBI as a result of their home runs.

Mike Hauschild started on the hill for UD. In 3.0 innings pitched with three walks and one strikeout. Chuck Ghysels earned his third win of the season going 5.1 innings for Dayton. Ghysels fanned seven and walked six in his outing. Tim Corbey saw 0.2 innings of action with one punchout.

Dayton will face Wright State on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Nischwitz Stadium. The game will be covered live on 1660 Information Radio as well streamed live on the Horizon League Network courtesy of Wright State Athletics.
