DAYTON, Ohio - Visiting Oakland used four home runs to beat Dayton, 11-3 in the second of three games that were completed at Time Warner Cable Stadium on Sunday.
Oakland (1-8) earned its first win of the season on the strength of two home runs from Chad Winkler and one each by Kevin Carkeek and Drew Jenison. Dayton fell to 6-6 overall with the loss.
Junior Chris Rubio suffered the loss for Dayton after allowing nine runs on seven hits (including three home runs) while striking out five in 4.2 innings pitched. He was relieved by Cale Ort who pitched 2/3 of an inning of perfect relief that included one strikeout.
Phil Ernst finished the game on the mound for UD and gave up two runs on two hits over the final 1.2 innings pitched. Josh Burt led the Flyer offense as he finished 1-for-2 with his first home run of the season in the fifth inning.
Bryan Chandler was 2-for-3 while William Benoit and Roberto Ramos each scored one run.
Michael Massa and Max Navalinski each drove in one run each for Dayton. |
