Academic Coordinator

Vera Gomes joined the University of Dayton staff as an Academic Coordinator in December 2003. Gomes works with men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, baseball, softball and track and field on their academic progress.

Prior to UD, Gomes served as an Academic Advisor in the Academic Center for Entering Students at the University of Connecticut for nine months. While at Connecticut, Gomes acted as the liaison to the Counseling Program for Intercollegiate Athletics and she facilitated the CHOICES and the UConn Connects Programs.

Before Connecticut, Gomes served as an Assistant Academic Coordinator and Life Skills Coordinator for Student-Athletes at Providence College for three years. At Providence, Gomes acted as the advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Board and she oversaw the Student-Athlete Speakers' Bureau.

Gomes is a 1997 graduate of Providence College with a degree in Political Science. She earned a Master's degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Athletics Administration from American University in 2000. While a student at American, Gomes served as the Assistant to the Associate Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator.

She is a member of the National Associtaion of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators and National Academic Advising Association.
