Steve Foster has been an athletic trainer at the University of Dayton since the 1986-87 season, working with football, men's basketball, and men's and women's golf. He has been instrumental in maintaining and expanding quality athletic training services to UD's growing number of student-athletes. Foster came to Dayton from DePauw University, where he served as athletic trainer from 1983-1986. He is also a 1980 graduate of DePauw. Foster received his Master's degree in athletic training from Indiana State University in 1982. He also taught, coached and served as athletic trainer for one year in the school system of his hometown of Wolcott, Indiana. In Foster's numerous years with UD, many former student athletic trainers have continued on to careers in sports medicine as certified athletic trainers, physical therapists or related fields. Four have gone onto medical school. One former student trainer, Dr. Penny Hogan, is now the associate team physician for UD. Foster is a former president of the Greater Dayton Athletic Trainers Association, and is a member of the College Athletic Trainers Committee with the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association. Foster and his wife Lynn reside in Bellbrook, Ohio, with their daughter Cassandra, who was born in April 2003. |
