Free throw competition at UD Arena brings in $6500 for Adventures For Wish Kids.

The University of Dayton Department of Athletics hosted the first annual Shot-a-thon which raised $6500 for Adventures For Wish Kids on December 10 at UD Arena. Participants obtained pledges for the number of free throws made in 10 minutes.

Twenty shooters participated in the event with the grand prize, 2 season tickets to UD Men's Basketball, going to Sarah Janning, a junior at Beavercreek HS. Sarah made 161 baskets and raised $150.

Other top shooters by age level included: 6th grade and under -Jake Riddell from Franklin (98 baskets), Middle School -Justin Shigley from Columbus (88 baskets), High School -Mitch Inkrott from Beavercreek (160 baskets), and Adult -Greg Wolfenbarger from Kettering (137 baskets).

Top Fundraisers were Martin Inkrott of Beavercreek - $842, Tom Grawe of Centerville - $206, Jeff Damron of Columbus - $200, Mark Keller of Tipp City - $150 and Colton Smith of Enon - $110.

Adventures For Wish Kids is a local non-profit organization which provides fun-filled activities for jchildren with life-threatening illnesses and their families. The adventures take children to places like the US Air Force Museum, Kings Island, Columbus Zoo, Dayton Bombers Hockey, Beavercreek Community Theater and much more.
