The Dayton Flyers men’s cross country alumni rallied to win the 2011-12 Champions & Scholars Fund alumni-athlete challenge with 12.9 percent of its former athletes giving back in support of Dayton athletics.
Men’s basketball finished a close second with 12.2 percent and men’s golf finished third with 12 percent. Baseball (11.2 percent) and football (10.1 percent) rounded out the top five. Football also finished first in overall donors with 192 total alumni-athletes participating.
“It means a lot to our current programs to have the ability to rally our former student-athletes during this challenge,” said Taylor Thomason, Assistant Director of Athletic Development. “Through the Champions & Scholars Fund, our goal is to maintain our connection to UD alumni-athletes while improving the lives of our current and prospective student-athletes. We thank all of the alumni that participated in this challenge, as your support has directly impacted the Dayton Flyers athletic programs.”
