    Vera Gomes
    Gomes joined the University of Dayton staff as an Academic Coordinator in December 2003. Gomes works with men's soccer, women's soccer, football, volleyball, baseball, softball and track and field on their academic progress.

    Prior to UD, Gomes served as an Academic Advisor in the Academic Center for Entering Students at the University of Connecticut for nine months. While at Connecticut, Gomes acted as the liaison to the Counseling Program for Intercollegiate Athletics and she facilitated the CHOICES and the UConn Connects Programs.

    Before Connecticut, Gomes served as an Assistant Academic Coordinator and Life Skills Coordinator for Student-Athletes at Providence College for three years. At Providence, Gomes acted as the advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Board and she oversaw the Student-Athlete Speakers' Bureau.

    Gomes is a 1997 graduate of Providence College with a degree in Political Science. She earned a Master's degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Athletics Administration from American University in 2000. While a student at American, Gomes served as the Assistant to the Associate Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator.

    She is a member of the National Associtaion of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators and National Academic Advising Association.


    Beth Flach
    Flach was added to the University of Dayton staff as an Athletic Academic Coordinator on July 19, 2006. Flach came to Dayton from Indiana State University where she served as the Assistant Athletics Academic Coordinator for five years.

    Flach serves as the Academic Coordinator for the Flyers men's and women's basketball teams while assisting with the academic needs of all UD student-athletes.

    Flach has been a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics since 2001 and was a committee chair for two years beginning in 2004. She has also active with Big Brothers/Big Sisters for the past five years.

    At Indiana State, Flach monitored the academic progress of over 300 student athletes from 15 athletic teams. She was also responsible for coordinating a mentoring program for freshman, transfers and academically at-risk student-athletes as well as organizing all aspects of the school's academic enrichment program. Prior to this role, Flach also served as an Academic Advising Intern where she taught a first year experience course and mentored student athletes from various athletic teams.

    Flach also spent time at Central Michigan University from 1999-2000 where she worked in the Athletic Academic Center and as a Graduate Student Administrative Assistant. Flach graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Capital University where she also played volleyball for three seasons. The Crusaders were Ohio Athletic Conference Champions during her junior season and she was a team captain as a senior.


    Dr. Michael O'Hare
    Dr. Michael O'Hare, Professor of Physics and Professor of Electro-Optics, was named the University of Dayton's Faculty Athletics Representative to the NCAA in 1998.

    Dr. O'Hare has been in the Department of Physics at the University of Dayton since 1966 and has served as chair of the department since 1983. Dr. O'Hare has taught physics at all levels and has research experience in atomic, molecular, solid-state and optical physics. He has served as a consultant and visiting scientist to the Wright-Patterson Air Force Materials Laboratory; has been a principal investigator on several research contracts with the Wright Patterson Air Force Base; and has served as a principal investigator on grants with NASA on scientific educational projects.

    Dr. O'Hare's duties as UD's Faculty Athletics Representative to the NCAA include: taking an active role in the institutional control of the intercollegiate athletics program; representing a faculty viewpoint, faculty oversight and faculty advice in the administration of the athletics program; involvement in the assurance of academic integrity of the athletics program; maintenance of the welfare of the student-athletes; and monitoring of the academic performance of the student-athletes.

    Dr. O'Hare and his late wife, Patricia, have four daughters, all of whom graduated from the University of Dayton.

    Heather Hogan
    Heather Hogan joined the University of Dayton staff on July 20, 2009 as the Assistant Academic Coordinator for Student-Athletes.

    Hogan works with Men's and Women's Cross Country, Men's and Women's Tennis, Men's and Women's Golf, Women's Rowing, and Women's Track & Field. Her responsibilities include coordinating study hall, monitoring academic progress, and teaching a life skills course to incoming student-athletes. Hogan is a 2009 graduate of Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., with a Master's Degree in Psychology, and a concentration in Athletic Counseling.

    She served as the NCAA Champs/Life Skills Coordinator and Athletic Counseling Graduate Associate at Springfield. During her two years at Springfield, she worked as an athletic counseling intern with several youth, high school, and collegiate athletes, focusing on academic progress and athletic performance.
