The fierce rivalry between the University of Dayton and Xavier University has lasted since 1919. During the 2002-03 academic year, the schools' spirit groups created the annual Drive 75 competition between the two schools seperated by a mere 47 miles on Interstate 75. Drive 75 is a food and clothing drive designed to support the greater Dayton and Cincinnati areas' less fortunate along with uniting the University of Dayton through the support of students, alumni, fans, and spectators.

After three consecutive years, the Drive 75 competition has yielded 34,389 pounds of clothing and food. The University of Dayton has donated all of the proceeds to various organizations through out the Dayton community. One of the biggest organizations to receive the contributions is Secret Smiles, which in turn distribute needed items to families throughout the Dayton area preparing to start their lives over. The University of Dayton has also helped the following charitable organizations: Dayton area food banks, St. Vincent de Paul, and Goodwill. The University of Dayton and Red Scare would like to thank you for all of your help making Drive 75 a success each year. If you are interested in donating to Drive 75, please contact Jason Dunn at (937) 229-4863 or dunnjaso@notes.udayton.edu.
