Tickets For First & Second Rounds (All other games) are SOLD OUT
Once again, the Dayton basketball fans have supported NCAA Basketball at University of Dayton Arena.
Including 2006, all 63 games in the First, Second or Regional rounds of the NCAA Tournament at UD Arena have been sellouts.

    UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON ARENA

University of Dayton Arena has played host to 66 NCAA Tournament games entering the 2006 Tournament.

In November 2002, the UD Arena re-opened after undergoing a major renovation that has been completed in a swift 10 months. Additions to the UD Arena include suites and loge seats, and the new Time Warner Cable Flight Deck -- all overlooking Blackburn Court with a powerful view of all of the action. The Boesch Lounge has received a face-lift along with new restrooms and upgraded concessions for the fans. Environmental graphics have been added throughout the building that tell the story of the long tradition of Dayton basketball. Overall, the facility has been modernized with an eye to the future while maintaining its steadfast roots as a landmark in the Dayton community.

University of Dayton Arena is known as a host to 16 of the last 33 NCAA Tournaments, including 66 games, fourth all-time behind Kansas City's Municipal Auditorium, New York's Madison Square Garden, and Salt Lake City's Huntsman Center.

The playing court at UD Arena was named after former Flyer coach Tom Blackburn, and the $4.5 million addition to the Arena was named for former player and coach Don Donoher. The Donoher Basketball Center, an addition to the southwest corner of the Arena, has given the Flyer basketball programs a technologically advanced facility for training, game preparation and recruiting. It now serves as the nerve center for the Flyer basketball programs, housing state-of-the-art conditioning and training rooms, locker rooms, multi-media facilities and team meeting rooms. The locker room layout incorporates an NBA-style design, combining a casually furnished lounge and meeting area within the locker room.

UD Arena opened on December 6, 1969, as the Flyers defeated Bowling Green, 72-70. In the 30 years that have passed, more than 14 million customers have witnessed events in UD Arena. The Dayton Flyers are the last NCAA Tournament team to play on its home floor, in 1985 as Villanova started its National Championship run against UD. The Flyers own a 445-176 (.717) record at UD Arena.

When the NCAA Tournament expanded to 65 teams for the first time, the NCAA placed the first-ever Opening-Round Game in Dayton, featuring the tournament's 64th and 65th seeded teams, Northwestern State and Winthrop. The Opening Round of 2001 was such a success in Dayton that the game returned to Dayton from 2002-2005, and will continue to be played at the Arena through at least 2008.

When calling one of the Opening Round Games, ESPN's Mike Tirico soaked in the atmosphere and told the national televison audience "There's no better basketball town in this country than Dayton, Ohio."

    UD Arena Seating diagram
(UD Arena is configured slightly different for the NCAA Tournament. Less seating is available in sections 103-106. Team benches will be on the other side, by sections 111-114)

  • A sold out UD Arena is a familiar sight, and one that prompted ESPN's Dave Simms to say "What an atmosphere! If you're a college hoops fan, figure out how you're going to get to Dayton."
